Harlow Science Park Welcomes New US Flights from Stansted

Stansted Airport has announced its first scheduled flights to North America for nearly a decade, operated by Danish airline Primera Air.

From April next year direct flights to New York and Boston Logan will be available. Another trans-Atlantic route from Stansted is due to be announced by the end of summer 2017. The flights will be operated by the new Airbus A321NEO aircraft and will offer passengers the choice of two cabins, full-service premium and low-fare economy. On board passengers will also have free Wi-Fi and charging points.

John Keddie, the Chair of the Harlow Enterprise Zone Board, said:

“This is welcome news for the local business community, many of whom have business interests in north America, and who now have the opportunity to utilise our local airport to further those interests. We have long supported Stansted Airport’s work to bring scheduled long haul flights to the region and this can only increase the attractiveness of the area to international businesses.

The Harlow Enterprise Zone is already home to major international companies such as Arrow Electronics, Raytheon and Pearson and our development of the new 37 acre Harlow Science Park, located just 15 minutes from Stansted Airport, will bring many more businesses and jobs to the area. We look forward to continuing to work with Stansted Airport to promote this as a location for international business.”

Andrew Cowan, London Stansted’s Chief Executive, said:

“We’re thrilled Primera Air has chosen London Stansted as its UK base for these exciting and innovative new long-haul services to the USA. We know from our customers that there is enormous demand for flights to New York and Boston from London and the east of England, so the arrival of Primera Air is fantastic news for both business and leisure passengers wanting great value, excellent service and the convenience of flying transatlantic from their local airport.

The welcome arrival of Primera Air to Stansted offers passengers even more choice and provides great new transatlantic connections to New York and Boston – both of which are important destinations for businesses in our catchment. I’m sure these new services will prove to be really popular and we look forward to working with Primera Air to add more routes in the future.”
